Monique Kabuye

We are proud to introduce you to possibly one of the finest African Female Artists to hail from her home in Kenya.

Born in Uganda in 1985 Monique’s unique mix of R&B with a variety of African genres and Neo Soul has produced possibly one of the best examples of African ingenuity in music. Her debut album titled Colour Black is proving to be a popular choice with the public at large, being described frequently to us as “contagious” or “sincere”. We expect to see big things from this young lady in the future.

Not only is Monique regarded as a beautiful woman, her voice has a calming, cheerful quality that puts you in a good frame of mind when you listen to her music. Recorded in Nairobi, Monique has paid particular attention to paying homage to her African Roots, and working with Eric Musyoka from Decimal Records Colour Black shows off her sizzling voice while aptly showcasing Africa’s diversity and flavour.

Working through multi-media associations, Monique has built her own strong identity and is featured as a TV presenter on Citizen TV Kenya as the face of the popular Afro mix show Afrodizzia. The newest member of the Homeboyz Radio broadcast team, Monique consistently drives herself to achieve bigger and better things.

From humble beginnings as an entrant to the East African Coca Cola Popstars Competition to signing with Kidum’s band Boda Boda and Mystique Fusion Band, Monique has sharpened her skills and is now firmly establishing her place as one of Africa’s newest shining stars. She enjoys collaborations with world renowned artists like Kenya’s Sauti Sol and Sudanese star Emmanuel Jal.

Through her music Monique reaches out to inspire and touch her listeners in positive and encouraging ways that bring great credibility to her craft work. This is a fantastic album, and we are sure you’ll enjoy it as much as we have.

  1. Hi Monique? Thanks for the great effort in entertaining us with Afrodizzia. However, we feel lost when you move from a S. African to N. African or W. African music. Is there a reason for this? Then, I love Ugandan music greatly, but we rarely see them? Stay blessed. Rita
