“Steady show stopping and beats stay rocking; Thanking god for a brand new day. You know I can’t stop now; Now way. You know I just can’t back down; Now way….”
Some of the catch lyrics from the visionary young Nigerian Musician Duncan Daniels. I got the chance this morning to listen to some of Duncan’s music. This Boston born Nigerian musical prodigy is blazing a firestorm of listening pleasure for a whole new generation of Nigerian music fans worldwide.
At twenty six Duncan Daniels has worked long and hard to establish his name as a credible artist. Raised in England and Nigeria, Duncan eventually returned to Boston, Massachusetts to stud Music Production & Engineering at Berkley College of Music, before launching himself into his lifelong ambition to become a recording artist.
Not content to stick to conventional trends Duncan has forged out his very own style of music he has branded DunkishRock. An urban mix of pop, rock and R&B his music slams together the right mix of beats, vocal melodies and finger clicking rhythms that can only be attributed to Duncan Daniels.
Duncan says his passion for music was ignited at an early age, growing up listening to the likes of the iconic U2, Bon Jovi and Boyz II Men. From as young as 15 Duncan was already working with recording labels around the world. In 2006 the world was rewarded with his Debut album “I Don Taya” listing some great tunes like “Will Tomorrow Ever Come” and “Take me Home” to mention two of the twelve.
2010 really saw Duncan come into his own as he dropped his second album “Sho Stoppah” on the world. With collaborations with the likes of MTV Africa’s 2009 award winning rapper M.I. the single “Like This” blasted onto the music scene, and received popular acclaim by featuring on FUSE TV and MTV Base music video charts and is featured on the Coast2Coast Mixtape Vol 87.
Having toured much of Europe, Africa and North America Duncan’s significant fan base is proof of his rising talent, and even the Independent Husslers segment of Coast2Coast Magazine list this independent artist as ‘One to watch in 2012’.
Indeed 2012 is set to be an exciting year for Duncan as he prepares for the launch of his new album “Life Your Life” which will feature the hit single “Ready for Love” now available on iTunes, and “That Girl” featuring Mighty Mystic. We can’t wait for this new album to release, and suggest you have a listen to this uniquely trendy Nigerian artist.
